Want to "do it yourself"? - Books on tanning

All dressing and tanning accepted at owner's risk. Prices are for dressing only and additional charges of $35/hour will be made for additional work such as fleshing, turning ears, etc.

Shipping Hides and Skulls
Do not ship green hides (those that are not salted or dried). Wait at least two weeks after salting hides before shipping them. Hides and skulls should be well wrapped (such as double wrapped in heavy garbage bags) to prevent leaking. We recommend shipping skulls frozen by an express service. If your items leak and damage other packages, the Post Office/UPS/FedEx will hold you liable for the damage, or may dispose of your package!

When you ship hides to us, please send along specific instructions on how you want the hides handled. Also, send with the hides your license number, tag number(s), sex of animal(s) and date(s) killed as we are required to have this information for our Idaho State Taxidermy Log. If you purchased, found or were given the hides, please include a statement to that effect.

We make no guarantee of how fast your shipment will be completed. It usually takes about 6 months to get your hides back.

You will be billed for your tanning when it is completed. We appreciate prompt payment of tanning bills. After 60 days, we reserve the right to sell any unpaid-for hide to recover the costs of tanning.

We accept no responsibility for spoilage of undried, unpreserved hides, furs or other items sent to us.

Shipping charges to return hides to you are extra.

Note: moose, horse and cows will be split length ways down the middle for tanning

Pearl - off-white or very, very light grey Smoke Tan - our most popular color, a very natural looking tan Gold - traditional buckskin color, a very pale orange or muddy yellow Chocolate - a dark, milk chocolate color Black - dark black hides There is always variation in color among hides coming from different dye lots. Your hides may look different. The colors shown are approximate, and will vary depending on the capabilities of your computer and how your monitor is set up. We have made our best effort to ensure the accuracy of the colors. If you have any questions about our colors, feel free to ask us.
